As Creative Director, bringing The Smashing Pumpkins’ vision to life in a five-part 2D animated series was an incredible opportunity. Working from Billy Corgan’s narrative, we built a goth-futuristic world blending hand-drawn animation with the band’s signature sound. The result: In Ashes, an operatic phantasmagoria of shifting identities, cosmic yearning, and high-octane chase scenes.

Over 300 unique background paintings were hand painted, building a unique world that oozed mood and supported the music.
Every episode builds upon the last, and the concepts for the set pieces and environment needed to support those rising stakes.
